We live in bark beetle country. These tiny insects can wreak havoc on a pine forest. To see the result of beetle infestation, you don’t need to go far from Timberdale Ranch. Just drive east on 160 to Wolf Creek Pass, or check out the Cherry Creek area just south of Hesperus.

The ponderosa pines in Timberdale Ranch are at risk from several varieties of bark beetles. One of the best things you can do to help prevent beetle infestation is to keep your trees healthy. Reducing the number of trees on your property allows each tree to thrive. Stressed trees produce less sap or pitch. The pressure from the pitch in a healthy tree can actually push beetles out, preventing them from establishing a foothold.
